I cannot tell you how giddy I was to receive my nautical anchor-charm wrap-around bracelet from Kiel James Patrick. As a kid, I read The Preppy Handbook over and over, fascinated by the otherness. So when I found this piece and the KJP brand, my first thought was I can finally be in the club. KJP represents The Breakers part of Rhode Island, not the arty Thayer Street in Providence part that I know. I haven't figured out yet if Kiel is part of someone's name or part of a boat. I am going to guess boat. So anyway, I have been examining the KJP website like an anthropologist or something. The next piece I bought was from the Madras plaid collection, but I'll have to tell you about that another time. I chose the Kennedy Sail bracelet because it seemed the most nautical of colorways -- classic navy and white. Too bad it isn't called The Swimmer by John Cheever Bracelet, who was far more preppy than the Kennedys, but anyway I wanted to be "flying the colors" -- you know, "representing" -- as the preppy kids say. Even better than the bracelet was the logo-printed velvet navy drawstring bag, and the navy linen laid gift box, and the nautical knot tying up the box, and the map-print tissue paper finished with a gold sticker (which I carefully preserved in situ), and even the inside of the box, which was also map print so you didn't even need the tissue paper, but I loved it all the more for that fact. I took photos at every stage of unboxing. I would include a few, I am not sure if I get the option. I'll do an IG post instead.
